Dear Friends of Olympia Farmers Market:

Thanks to your ongoing support we did some amazing work in 2019.

We are very excited to have awarded three scholarships in 2019. Our partnership with Evergreen State College was a success as they found us a great candidate in Talia Feinberg. We awarded two additional scholarships to Ann Hallee and our returning recipient Sadie Kassel. These three women are doing great things in the world of sustainable agriculture and we are very excited to be a part of their education process. We will be continuing our partnership with Evergreen for the 2020/2021 school year as well as taking applications through our website until April 30th.

To add to our support for agricultural education we presented grant funds to Tumwater Fresh, a program that teaches High School students about agriculture while also building their communication and leadership skills.

Last but not least, we funded the purchase and installation of lighting that has been placed in the vendor stalls throughout Olympia Farmers Market. These lights offer a warm environment to those shopping as well as brighten up the displays of the vendors.

We couldn’t do this without the help of our members and our community. Our continued efforts are supported by our membership; sponsorships; donations and sales of commemorative bricks and merchandise.

Regrettably, we have decided to cancel our annual fundraiser, Taste of the Market, this year. This decision was made based on the current impact of Covid-19 on our community and the world. Though our event is in August and there is a chance that things will be back to normal, the burden will still be great and our community will still be recovering. We believe it’s important for those that can, to give to our local businesses and get them back on their feet. This, of course, includes those businesses dearest to our hearts at Olympia Farmers Market. Don’t fret! We will be back in 2021 to give you the best Taste of the Market yet.

Are you interested in helping Friends of Olympia Farmers Market fulfill our mission? We are looking for new Board Members and volunteers. Contact us for additional details.

Best Regards,

Amity Muntz
